ERIN STEWART, MAYOR OF NEW BRITAIN

When I think of Leah Gaffney, two words always come to mind: hardworking and trustworthy. Leah has never been afraid to take on new task, and does so with motivation and passion. Her dedication and focus is unparalleled, which is evident in the quality of her work. Leah’s confidence make her an asset in any work setting, and her strong character and drive for success set her apart from others.

ERIC SCHENFIELD, GUIDANCE COUNSELOR- NEW BRITAIN HIGH SCHOOL

In all my years working as a school counselor, I have never seen a student graduate with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Leah is a conscientious, intelligent yet humble student who has a positive attitude and is therefore respected by faculty and students alike. Leah’s extracurricular activities along with her volunteering in the community demonstrates her aptitude for leadership, camaraderie and creativity.

JUSTIN CARLIN, FORMER TEACHER/ MUSIC DIRECTOR- NEW BRITAIN HIGH SCHOOL

Ms. Gaffney is involved in a variety of different activities related to the arts, academia, and extracurricular programs outside of the school day, which displays her commitment and dedication traits. She balanced her time very well while involved with the music program.

RANDI PRILUCK, FORMER PROFESSOR/ASSOCIATE DEAN- PACE UNIVERSITY

It’s been a pleasure having Lean Gaffney in my Principles of Marketing course.  She is an engaged and serious student and I have recommended her for marketing internships and positions due to her strong work ethic.  I have seen Leah work well in a team and give a good presentation to her colleagues.  I expect we will see great things from Leah Gaffney in the future.

LEONA CLERKIN, FORMER PRINCIPAL/DISTRICT FINE ARTS COORDINATOR- NEW BRITAIN HIGH SCHOOL

I have known Leah Gaffney since I was her middle school principal for three years and with the New Britain High School music department for four years, where she participated in numerous activities.  In addition to all of her extra-curricular activities, Leah was a high honors student excelling in all academic areas.  Leah is one of the rare students who embodies the qualities that all educators and parents want in a young person – hard-working, trustworthy, talented, generous, kind and intelligent.  She is the type of person that you can put your faith in and she will deliver on whatever you need.

KRISTIN EGGLESTON, FORMER TEACHER- NEW BRITAIN HIGH SCHOOL

Leah was a student in my AP Language class her junior year in high school, and she is one of the most dedicated and compassionate students I've ever worked with. She often revised assignments, even those that earned a high grade, if she thought she could learn more by revisiting the work, and she kindly offered to help other students in the class with their writing.
