ABOUT
When I was younger, I went through a variety of “phases” in hobbies and activities. I tried out gymnastics, tennis, baseball, soccer, and even basketball, which is funny considering I am currently five feet tall and had a knack for fouling. One phase that had always stuck with me was the one where I would dress up with my friends and put on little performances – you know the ones that you think would blow your parents away so that you could have a sleepover?
Yeah, that “storytelling” phase. I went on to take voice, dance, and acting lessons and swore to everyone that I would one day be a Broadway star. Flash forward to the inevitable turning point – college. Self doubt combined with the classic lack of stability led to my decision to pursue a business degree at, surprisingly, one of the top Musical Theater universities in the country, Pace University.
I graduated from Pace a year early with a B.B.A. in Advertising and Integrated Marketing Communications, and minors in Digital Marketing and Arts and Entertainment Management. Instead of performing musical numbers and dramatic scenes, I found performance through creating stories as a marketer.
All throughout college I had learned how to create a marketing story; consumers were fellow characters and the different aspects of marketing were roles I got to play. I played roles in artist management, social media, brand marketing, and marketing finance, and finally ended up with marketing research, my current role.
Presently, I am a Brand Strategy Analyst at Kantar, which really means I use quantitative data to tell a story that solves the problems of clients. I achieve all of this through a combination of questionnaire development, data programming, survey testing, fielding, and designing and pitching reports. Excel and powerpoint have grown into my performance venue! In the months that I have been involved at Kantar, I have already had so many opportunities for performance and am excited for the new ones to come!
